How to Prepare for a Denver Job Fair

So, you’ve decided to attend a LocalWork Denver Job Fair. You might have been to other job fairs before, or you might be a job fair newbie and you have no idea what to expect. Getting prepped for the event might be top of mind for you.

Here are some tips to preparing to attend a job event.

1. 1. Know what you will wear. You don’t have to wear a suit and tie, you don’t have to wear heels and pearls, but you should dress to impress at a job fair. Consider what you would put on for a date with someone you really want to impress. The idea is that you want to show respect for recruiters, while standing out from the rest of the job seekers. Put on a little cologne or perfume, freshen your breath, tuck in your shirt, plan to look great.
   2. Research the companies that will be attending the fair. Sometimes you won’t know exactly who will be at the fair. Often there will be a preliminary list of companies who are planning on attending. Look through this list and decide which companies you are most interested in and do a little research. What do they do? What are their values? But, keep your mind open to other companies too.
   3. Plan your route. Often, job fairs are held and hosted in city centers to make them geographically central to as many people as possible. This means traffic and parking can be tricky. Check maps the night before the fair. Plan how you will approach and where you will park. On top of everything else, you don’t want to have to worry about being late.

The most important thing to do to prepare for a Denver job fair is to remember to relax and have fun. Meeting new people and connecting can be a pleasant experience, and the more calm you are, the better the recruiters will feel about you as a candidate. Remember to smile and be confident.
