Why Holiday Season Is The Best Time To Job Hunt

As we are approaching the end of the year, many people find themselves still looking for a job.  Good news…it’s also the best time to find a job.  Here are a few reasons on why November and December are the best months to land your next career.

  1. Getting a new job, might get in the way of my holiday plans! Too many job seekers are feeling this way.  The uncertainty of accepting a job which will make you work on Christmas Eve or the week right before New Years keeps a number of unemployed individuals from actively looking for work.
  2. Procrastination is easier! Many job seekers who might be accepting a severance or unemployment benefits will justify not looking because “I’ll start fresh in 2014” seems like the easiest approach.

If either of these thoughts have crossed your mind, DON’T Do It.  Don’t fall into that trap.  Industry wide, we have seen job board traffic and job fair traffic dramatically decrease the last couple months of the year.  Companies have a much lower pool of job seekers to pick from.  The recruiters and hiring managers still have jobs to fill.  With positions to hire, you have a much lower competition when you apply.

Remember this is the time to show your work ethic.  Show off what value you will bring to your future employer.
